What should I wear?Workout clothes are a great choice for belly dance class. Whatever you'd wear to the gym would be fine, although many students prefer to wear either a tight-fitting top or a belly shirt that allows them to see hip and abdominal movements. Whatever you wear, make sure you're comfortable and free to move around. You should also bring protective footwear. We recommend ballet slippers (available for sale at all studios) but thick socks w/rubber at the bottom are OK too. We do NOT recommend you go barefoot. You may notice that most students wear coin sashes and other fabulous sparkly, jingly, and colorful accessories. These items are all for sale at our studios. Once you discover how fun and addictive belly dancing is, you'll probably want to make a purchase (especially a coin sash since sashes are wonderful teaching tools). |
Feel free to choose any beginner level course to get started at our studio. Once you have completed at least four choreography courses, you can advance to the intermediate level.
How do I make up a missed class?
Five-week courses have a start and an end date. Unfortunately, you cannot make up a missed class. But we know you may have to miss a class at some point, so our instructors review the previous week's material at the beginning of each session. And for choreography courses, you'll also get access to our helpful choreography notes that spell out the sequence of steps for the dance. If you need more help, you can also purchase DVDs that show our choreographies and explain technique. DVDs aren't the same as a live instructor, but they're a great help.
